Project Title: Cooper Gallery Multi Cultural Art Project

Description: This project took place as part of the 2005 All Barnsley Diversity Festival. The participants came from across the local area and included both young people and parents. The aim of the project was to represent a new more cosmopolitan look for Barnsley focusing on people from Africa and the Caribbean.

Outcomes: The participants took picture of people and features that they felt represented old Barnsley and also new members of the community that have come to Barnsley from across the globe. The participants then used digital editing to manipulate the photographs they had taken. These photo along with paintings created in the workshops were put together to create three banners one representing the Caribbean, one representing Africa and one representing Barnsley. The banners when finished were used as the back drops for the stage at Satisfy My Soul an African Caribbean event that took place as part of the festival.
