Project Title: The Big Draw - The Cooper Gallery Animation Project

Description:The Big Draw, a week’s project based at the Cooper Art Gallery in Barnsley, involved several elements; a dance company, visual artist and animator. In the morning sessions, Ascendance Dance Company worked with students from Kingstone School to create a piece of dance, using the Gallery exhibitions as inspiration.

Outcomes:The group performed their dance at the end of the week. During the afternoons one of Just Addictive Music’s visual artists facilitated drawing workshops for adults and the pupils from Kingstone School (whilst the dancers rehearsed). The participants sketches were used to create short simple animations to express the shapes and movements of the dance.
