We are very pleased to announce that this year Just Addictive Music will be celebrating Black History Month with our annual event held at the Lucorum in Barnsley. This year’s event Afrique Melody features Kudashe Matimba and his Band Harare.

Also due to funding from Arts Council England we are holding a series of events in venues across Leeds, all going under the banner Leeds Celebrates Black Music, Art and Culture

The highlight of Black History Month 2008 in Leeds is Affirmation, to be held at the Carriageworks Theatre in Millennium Square. Affirmation is a free event that includes live music and dance performances, exhibitions, films, story-telling and workshops that celebrate African and Caribbean culture.

You can spectate or participate in activities aimed at families and people of all ages and interests. Free Entry.

Led by highly energetic Kudaushe Matimba, Harare have the style, momentum and experience to show there is a promising future ahead for Zimbabwean based dance music and for their exciting new songs and arrangements.


The main aim of Leeds celebrates will be to is to raise the profile of black music and culture and encourage diversity in its presentation. To achieve this aim we will be hosting events in City centre venues to gain maximum exposure along with locally events.
